MoodSense approached us to help them kick-start their company with a new identity, website and user interface. The company is run by music experts that fit the right sound to the right brand with curated playlists and custom hardware. All without the use of algorithms as they are a strong believer in a personal approach to music curation.
This human approach to music curation inspired us to create a brand world that balances a modern tech focussed aesthetic with off-beat human character trades. This resulted in a vibrant and colourfull visual identity that doesn’t feel like yet another tech startup.
A sharp and organic typeface is used to create multiple variations of one main logotype, playing with the idea of curating and evolution. Using the M from it's name we created a recognisable 'star' icon to go along with the typography. Finally we use parts of the type curves to create new graphic shapes and patterns that can be used anywhere from digital campaigns to physical packaging.
