‘Love Radio’ is a transmedia documentary about the process of reconciliation in post-genocide Rwanda. It straddles the line between fact and fiction. At first glance, it tells a linear, almost fairy-tale narrative, based on radiosoap ‘Musekeweya’. But a closer look reveals the complex reality beneath.
The year 2014 marks 20 years since the Rwandan genocide. Hate campaigns in the media played a central role. Today, ‘Musekeweya’ broadcasts a message of reconciliation on the same frequency that in 1994 incited the population to kill.
Our goal was to offer dedicated content specifically made for each platform at the highest imaginable level. With a multi-disciplinary team, we captivated the online audience with an unparalleled cinematic experience. Smartphone visitors immersed themselves in intimate short stories especially designed to be enjoyed while on the move. In the exhibition, the different layers of the project are experienced in a physical way.
“Every week, between 8:45 and 9:15 p.m., millions of people tune in across the country.”
