A dynamic visual canvas of architecture

HG Esch
Brief

Hans Georg Esch is an architectural photographer and filmmaker and one of the most important interpreters of the latest architecture and avant-garde design worldwide. He pictures the largest architectural offices worldwide and develops artistic concepts resulting in large series of images and books.

Approach

When starting with the new visual identity, an analysis of the old website showed that it was hard to navigate and didn’t show the scope and scale of the projects in an intuitive way. Thus, for the new website, we focused on the visual as the most important starting point and wanted to showcase the quality, variety and quantity of the works by HG Esch. The homepage is therefore divided in three image parts stacked on top of each other, each taking 50, 75 or 100% of the total screen. This ‘stacking view’ changes each time you visit or refresh the webpage.

By clicking on one of the images, you dive into the project. The ‘discover tags’ at the bottom of the page enable visitors to navigate through similar tagged images and other categories. These categories can also be accessed through the menu, that leads to an overview page with mixed images of the selected category. With these navigation options, the new website enables all inspiration seekers, collaborators and other visitors to endlessly browse through the infinite number of images and filmed footage of some of the most renowned architectural structures from around the globe.

“What a good canvas it is. As we like to see our projects captured in photographs by HG Esch Photography the right way, we are amazed too to see them framed within a matching graphic/web design.”
