Position: Graphic designer

LMNOP is looking for a graphic designer with at least three years of experience in an agency/studio environment. You will contribute to projects ranging from publications and visual identities to exhibition design and campaigns. You are used to working independently on long-term projects where you are involved from briefing to delivery. In these projects, you also safeguard quality and make sure everything stays on track.

Who you are

You are independent, ambitious, proactive and curious, and you enjoy working as part of a team. You communicate well, can switch gears quickly, think in solutions and are stress-resistant. You have your own perspective on design and are able to convincingly take colleagues and clients along in your process, and you can explain your design choices clearly and persuasively. You do not work from trends or templates, but from content and context. You ask critical questions, including to yourself.

What will you do
  • You translate strategic and substantive questions into visual concepts with a clear point of view.
  • You work on editorial projects, books, magazines, catalogues with a strong typographic foundation.
  • You develop visual identities that are sustainable and easy to apply. Not just a nice logo, but identities that take into account all the touchpoints a brand needs today.
  • You think along about exhibition design and spatial applications of image, typography and content.
  • You actively participate in the concept and strategy phases, not only in execution
  • You engage constructively with clients and can substantiate design choices.
  • You communicate your ideas clearly and know how to bring stakeholders along in your story and/or presentation.
  • You safeguard the quality of your work through to production or delivery.
What you bring
  • You have an affinity with art, culture, branding and design, and are socially informed and engaged.
  • At least 3 years of relevant design experience in an agency or studio context.
  • A strong and broad portfolio with both editorial and identity work.
  • A sharp sense of typography and an eye for composition and hierarchy.
  • Experience supervising production processes (print, build, digital).
  • The ability to work independently and actively contribute to team discussions.
  • Interested in branding and in cultural and socially meaningful projects and clients.
  • Curiosity to investigate, dissect and clarify complex questions.
  • Technical skills in the Adobe suite, as well as motion design, 3D (SketchUp/Blender etc.) and Figma.
What you are not
  • Someone who sees design as style without substance.
  • Someone who waits for briefings instead of asking questions.
  • Someone who works from formats, templates or trend references.
  • Someone who separates design from the context or audience it is intended for.

LMNOP is a multidisciplinary creative office for visual communication. We work on a variety of physical and digital projects ranging from visual identities to publications and exhibition design, for clients and partners in the cultural and commercial domain.

What we offer
  • Working on meaningful, substantively strong projects.
  • Plenty of room for editorial involvement and personal input.
  • Direct collaboration with clients and creative partners.
  • A competitive salary in line with the guidelines of the BNO (Association of Dutch Designers). Salary scale depending on experience.
  • A temporary contract with the prospect of a permanent one.
  • A small team with friendly, ambitious and honest colleagues.
  • An open, personal and informal working atmosphere and shared lunch.
  • A beautiful workplace in the historic centre of Utrecht with a view of the Dom Church.
  • Budget for personal development.
  • Pension scheme.
